Dimuthu Attanayake is an award-winning independent journalist and the first Pulitzer Center grantee from Sri Lanka. Her reporting covers social justice, environmental issues, climate change, economics, technology, and politics. Her work is featured in international publications including Foreign Policy, The Guardian, Deutsche Welle, South China Morning Post, Thomson Reuters Foundation News, and the Sunday Observer in Sri Lanka.

Dimuthu received an award at the 20th Developing Asia Journalism Awards by ADBI for her investigative story on how climate change contributes to domestic violence among women farmers in Sri Lanka, reported with support from the Pulitzer Center.

In 2018, for her reporting on the need for postconflict reparations in Sri Lanka, Dimuthu was shortlisted for the Young Journalist Award by the Thomson Foundation and Foreign Press Association in London. She was one of the three winners of the Ocean Storytelling Grant offered by the Save Our Seas Foundation and a 2022 Falling Walls Fellow in Germany.
