The Informal Meeting of Legal Advisers, organized this year by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, was held on 23 and 24 October 2023, marking the traditional opening of 鈥淚nternational Law Week.鈥� In his opening remarks, the Legal Counsel shared with the delegates some thoughts on international humanitarian law, on the recent BBNJ Agreement, and on a snippet from the work of the Sixth Committee, namely the protection of persons in the event of disasters and the revised definition of the term international organization. Throughout the week, Mr. Serpa Soares held bilateral meetings with several legal advisers who came from all over the world to United Nations Headquarters New York in order to discuss current issues of international law and its development.听
