Members of the academic community write books and papers on the UN and teach students about the Organization. They are vital to the work of the United Nations because they are making the young people of today, who will be the leaders of tomorrow, aware of the Organization and what it does. They also foster interest in the UN. We recognize that many users of the?Yearbook of the United Nations, both the print and online editions, are also members of the academic community. In that connection, we thank you for your support of the Yearbook collection/series. We also would like to take this opportunity to invite you to consider joining efforts with UN mechanisms that raise the awareness of young people about the UN, such as the?, an initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the UN in support of the Organization¡¯s goals and mandates; the?, the only UN agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of education; the?, a global think tank and postgraduate teaching organization; the?, the world¡¯s largest corporate sustainability initiative; and the?, where you can change the world by volunteering over the internet.
