In his first bilateral visit to any country?since he assumed the UN General Assembly¡¯s presidency in September 2022, Mr. Csaba Korosi visited India on a three-day visit from 29 to 31 January 2023. In New Delhi, the President¡¯s delegation held a series of high-level consultations with the External Affairs Minister, H.E. Dr. S. Jaishankar, on key multilateral and regional issues of mutual interest and interacted with officials of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI), Aayog (Planning Commission), and India¡¯s G20 presidency team. UNDSS India supported the visit. 

The visit focused on the five priorities that were outlined by the PGA at the start of the 77th UN General Assembly Presidency: i) Standing firm on basic principles of the United Nations Charter; ii) Making significant and measurable progress in sustainability transformation; iii) Aiming at integrated, systemic solutions; iv) Enhancing role of science in decision-making; and v) Increasing solidarity to better endure new chapters of crises facing the world. 

The PGA delivered a public address at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) on his presidency theme of "Solutions through Solidarity, Sustainability and Science in the UN". PGA Korosi also met Prime Minister  and interacted with the UN Country Team in New Delhi. In Bengaluru, the delegation interacted with scientists at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and undertook a field visit to Kollar Water Project site in Karnataka (an IISc-led water conservation project). The PGA also visited UN supported development projects in and around Bengaluru. 

UNDSS India in coordination with the DO/RC Office, as well as with the Office of PGA and Government of India - Ministry of External Affairs assisted in the security and logistical support for the PGA¡¯s visit. UNDSS India team facilitated engagement with all relevant counterparts, including UN agencies present in the field. To ensure a safe mission, the security team prepared a Personal Security Risk Assessment (PSRA) and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) prior to the visit. Also, two Field Security Advisers (FSAs) were deployed in New Delhi and two others in Bengaluru as advance security for venues assessments and thorough liaison with host government security authorities in both states. Moreover, the UNDSS team assisted in protocol and motorcade arrangements, airport and hotel transfers, security clearances and liaison with airport authorities, inter alia. The visit was concluded successfully without any incidents.  

UNDSS India is now preparing for the States¡¯ elections in Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Karnataka states during February, March, and May 2023, while the key engagement during this year will be the preparations for the 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit that will take place on 9th ¨C 10th September in New Delhi, wherein a UN Delegation and several SUNOs are expected to participate.
