The Security and Safety Service (SSS) of the UNHQ hereby informs that demonstrations are scheduled tomorrow, 18 July, in the morning, in the vicinity of the UN Headquarters district. Vehicular traffic may be disrupted in the area.

UN staff and other personnel are encouraged to avoid these areas as well as other crowded areas. Please take into consideration that there could be other (unscheduled) demonstrations taking place that could cause unforeseen disruptions.

SSS will continue to liaise with our host city¡¯s law enforcement counterparts and will share regular updates.

If you should find yourself in a protest area, follow the general safety advice below:?

1.? Remain calm and move slowly to the edge of the crowd where it is safest.

2.? When possible, move away and seek refuge in a nearby building, or doorway until the crowd passes.

3.? When leaving the protest area ¨C walk, don¡¯t run.??

4.? Do not draw unnecessary attention to yourself and avoid identifying yourself as a UN staff member.

5.? If you are driving, DO NOT stop your vehicle and keep windows and doors locked. Drive carefully through or around the crowd at a low speed and do not honk your horn.?

6.? Follow instructions from local authorities.??

7.? For emergencies, contact local authorities at 911.???
