Description
The project will assist beneficiary’s countries to develop their National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) that will help build the dedicated, well-structured and comprehensive geospatial data foundation that is required to generate relevant information products and services that can be used to support evidence-based policy analysis, planning, management and monitoring, and evaluation purposes at the regional, national and local scales.
The project will be instrumental in aligning in some selected African countries (based on geographic representation, this includes Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Kenya, Niger) the management of geospatial information for decision making towards the establishment of spatial infrastructures - for the collection, maintenance and dissemination of the geospatial information products and services, including relevant policies, standards and legal frameworks, resulting in the concept of spatial data infrastructures (SDI).

Synopsis

The project aimed to strengthen the capacities of selected African countries to produce, utilize, manage geospatial information for effective monitoring and review of the implementation of SDGs, and to assist beneficiary countries to develop their National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) that is required to generate relevant information products and services for evidence-based decision-making in policy, planning, management, monitoring and evaluation purposes at the regional, national and local scales.

Overall, the project improved institutional and technical capacity of the selected beneficiary countries.
