If you do not have or were not previously accredited to participate in LDC5, you may now apply for special accreditation using the following steps: 

1. APPLY – , by 2 December 2022. 

2. REVIEW – All applications will be reviewed. 

3. APPROVAL – All positive applications will receive a notification of approval. 

4. REGISTRATION - Each representative must register individually to take part in LDC5. 

5. PERMIT – Each registered participant must apply for a Special Entry Permit to Qatar.?

The key role of Civil Society in LDC5

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) play a vital role in reaching the unreachable and at LDC5, the Civil Society Forum will explore ways to promote sustainable development in LDCs through the expert local and global perspectives of CSOs. 

Led by CSOs themselves, the Civil Society Forum will take place at LDC5 from 4 to 9 March. The Forum will ensure civil society’s expertise, experience and knowledge are central to the delivery of the (DPoA).  

LDC5 Private Sector Forum

The Private Sector Forum is a once-in-a-decade opportunity to forge innovative business partnerships in the world's 46 Least Developed Countries. It will focus on building lasting and durable partnerships to advance the development of the private sector in LDCs. It will also offer small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) the opportunity to develop networks, deliberate on emerging business issues and explore new solutions and business opportunities with a global network.??? 

The Private Sector Forum will take place from 5 to 7 March at the margins of LDC5 and is co-organised by OHRLLS?and Microsoft, in partnership with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The media plays a crucial role in driving sustainable development and holding key policymakers accountable. This will be especially true as the LDCs and their development partners strategise in Doha on how to implementat the Doha Programme of Action – the roadmap for accelerated sustainable development for the following decade.  

To foster a healthy media engagement with the DPoA, we are sponsoring two journalists from each of the LDCs to join us in Doha, half of whom are also undertaking a training programme in partnership with the Thomson Reuters Foundation.  

The objective of this training programme is for LDC journalists to help amplify the Doha Programme of Action, and to help keep governments to account in its delivery. 

Media, journalists, and local and international correspondents will play an essential role at LDC5. The Conference will offer a dedicated space to hold press conferences. Participating organisations are highly encouraged to hold press events. 

Registration of media for LDC5 will be carried out by the Starting on December 5.

Young people are agents of change, mobilising to improve the lives of people and the health of the planet. If they are not included the key partners in the realisation of the Doha?Programme of action, their communities, countries will never achieve a better, more sustainable future.  

LDC5 will provide a platform to discuss and create targeted policies to empower?the?young population in Least Developed Countries and enhance their role in implementing the new?Programme?of Action, as well as the 2030 Agenda. A Youth Forum will open the doors of the Qatar National Convention Center on 4 March, starting the LDC5 Conference with the voices of young people. This forum will be a safe space for youth in LDCs to share their vision and commitment to a better society. An Intergenerational Dialogue with decision makers will also feature LDC youth in discussions on how to best include young people in national and regional development plans.

The Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) represents a new generation of global partnerships built on renewed and strengthened commitments. This partnership among LDCs and development partners is set to achieve recovery from the pandemic, build resilience and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

LDC5 will call for scaled-up and ambitious implementation through the widest possible coalition, including between countries in the global south. South-South cooperation is grounded in the spirit of solidarity. A Ministerial Meeting on South-South Cooperation will take place on 7 March. The Meeting will discuss South-South Cooperation’s catalytic role in the LDCs’ efforts to achieve sustainable and inclusive development. South-South cooperation can also mobilize financial and technical resources and innovative solutions for the timely implementation of the DPoA. 

Side Events at LDC5

Complementing LDC5’s daily programme, there are a series of side events throughout each day which offer a deeper insight into the challenges and opportunities facing the Least Developed Countries in implementing the Doha Programme of Action. The side events include innovative approaches, and the launch of new initiatives and partnerships. 

Running alongside the main programme, representatives from the LDCs, their development partners, the UN system, academia, the private sector and civil society organizations come together to find solutions for the least developed countries attain the SDGs and progress towards graduation from the LDC category.
